Apr. 7–10, 2024: Jaeyun presented a poster on our plasma proteomics work in giant cell arteritis at the 21st International Vasculitis Workshop in Barcelona, Spain. His poster was selected for the conference poster tour!
Mar. 2024: Passing a ~13% acceptance rate, Thomas is awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) through the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences! We look forward to having Thomas work with us as a SURF student this summer. Congratulations, Thomas!

June 2023: Jaeyun has been selected as the Diversity Scholar for Mayo Clinic by the NIH National Institute of Aging (NIA)-funded Centrally-linked Longitudinal pEripheral biomARkers of AD (CLEAR-AD) U19 Program. The award will provide funds to broaden the expertise of the research group in the field of Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders.

May 4–6, 2023: Jaeyun presented a talk on the group’s rheumatoid arthritis biomarker discovery work at the Center for Individualized Medicine’s 12th Annual Individualizing Medicine Conference (Jacksonville, FL).
May 1, 2023: Daniel passed his undergraduate thesis presentation with flying colors! His thesis work was on translating gut microbiome data for actional tests. Congrats, Daniel!

Jan. 12, 2023: Jaeyun gave an invited (keynote) talk at the 15th Annual Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BICB) Research Symposium at the University of Minnesota, Rochester Campus.
Jan. 3, 2023: PIs and trainees (students, postdoctoral fellows) of the Microbiome Program convened for a full-day retreat. There were lots of scientific discussions, cross-pollination of ideas from different fields, followed by a banquet dinner to celebrate our great camaraderie.

Feb. 5, 2021: We have been awarded a $240k grant, titled “Diagnostic Biomarker Discovery in Autoantibody-Negative Inflammatory Arthritis”, by Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine! We are excited to be working towards discovering novel immune biomarkers that will help seronegative RA patients get the right diagnosis sooner.

Jan. 2021: Jaeyun is one of 50 early-career faculty selected as a Scialog Fellow to participate in the 2021 Scialog: Microbiome, Neurobiology and Disease, jointly sponsored by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA), the Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group, and the Frederick Gardner Cottrell Foundation.
Jan. 2021: We are excited to work with Professor Isobel Scarisbrick on her recently awarded NIH (NINDS) R01 grant on targeting Protease Activated Receptor 1 (PAR1) for spinal cord injury repair. Jaeyun will serve as a co-Investigator on this research.
